I graduated with distinction at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich (Germany) in 2008 in Physical Geography (main subject), Physics and Ecoclimatology. After my Master, I worked for three years as a catastrophe risk model developer in reinsurance with focus on large-scale flood risk.

In 2011, I was awarded a scholarship by the European Commission's Marie-Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) "Changes" to pursue my PhD studies at the University of Salzburg (Austria), which I completed summa cum laude. During my PhD, I focused on flood risk assessment in mountain areas across Europe considering climate and land use changes. My studies included secondments in the Netherlands (University of Twente, ITC) and Germany (Geomer).

In 2016, I joined the Department of Earth Sciences of Uppsala University (Sweden) as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Hydrology, where I worked closely with Giuliano Di Baldassarre on hydro-meteorological extremes, focusing on floods, droughts and impacts on agriculture across the world.

In 2018, I was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship by the European Commission to work at the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management on my project called "Space-Time scAling of the Rainfall to FLOOD transformation" (STARFLOOD). STARFLOOD deals with physical causes of floods in space and time and the scaling behavior of hydrological processes.
